Skywave

Privacy Policy · Last updated 28 August 2026

Skywave is a native internet-radio player for Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android, made by Tuturama OÜ (registry code 16022682), Tornimäe tn 7, 10145 Tallinn, Estonia. This policy explains what the apps and the backend service handle. In short: Skywave has no accounts, does not ask for your name, email or location, and carries no advertising and no third-party trackers.

What we collect

What we do not collect

Radio streams and third parties

Skywave is a player. Radio stations are operated by independent broadcasters, and their streams are delivered directly from the broadcasters' own servers. When you play a station, your device connects to that broadcaster's server, which sees your IP address and your request, exactly as it would if you had opened the stream in a browser. Their own privacy practices then apply, and Skywave does not control those servers. Station logos and programme artwork are loaded the same way, from the addresses the broadcasters publish.

The station catalogue is sourced from public, openly licensed directories and from Skywave's own curated data.

The map on Android draws OpenStreetMap tiles, so openstreetmap.org receives your IP address while the map is open. On Apple platforms the map is Apple Maps, and Apple's privacy policy applies to it.

On Android, the summaries written by our listening robot are translated on your device using Google ML Kit. The language model is downloaded from Google once; the text being translated never leaves your device.

Chromecast & AirPlay

When you cast to a Chromecast/Google Nest device or stream via AirPlay, the stream URL is handed to that device on your local network so it can play the audio directly. No additional personal data is sent in that process.

Purchases

Skywave Pro is a one-time purchase, handled by the App Store on Apple platforms and by Google Play on Android. We never see your payment details. The app asks the store whether the purchase exists; our servers are not part of it. The two purchases are separate products in separate stores and do not carry across.

Data storage & retention

Favourites, tags, schedules, listening goals, recently played stations, preferences and study data are stored on your device. Removing the app removes them.

On Mac, iPhone and iPad you can turn on iCloud sync, which keeps that same information in your own iCloud account so your devices agree. It goes to Apple, not to us, and turning sync off stops it. Android has no such sync.

Anonymous play counts are stored on Skywave's backend only in aggregate form and are not tied to any personal identity.

Children

Skywave is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. Live radio is not classified, and we do not filter what stations broadcast.

Your rights

We hold no record that identifies you, so in normal use there is nothing for us to export, correct or erase. Under the GDPR, Tuturama OÜ is the controller for the operational logs described above. If you believe we hold something about you, write to support@tuturama.com and we will answer.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated date above will change. Material changes will be reflected here.
